Street Mural Collaboration

A Livable Future for All

This large-scale street mural was created through a collaborative effort between Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC) student clubs, community organizations, and artist David Solnit. Spanning 1,024 feet along Elliot Avenue in Santa Rosa, the mural was designed to imagine and inspire a “Livable Future for All.”

Each participating club or organization contributed an individual 12-foot design, collectively forming a vibrant, interconnected visual narrative. More than 200 students, educators, and community members participated in the project creating individual designs. Shared elements such as a blue butterfly path and indigenous basket-weave pattern linking the pieces were created in collaboration with the Raizes Collective & Monarch Project.

The Student Health Services (SHS) department’s mural was dedicated to providing physical, mental, and social wellness resources for students. The resulting design explored the intersection of personal well-being and planetary care, emphasizing the idea that tending to oneself enables the capacity to care for others and the environment—central to the vision of a livable future.
